Work Experience Education provides supervised employment extending classroom occupational learning at an on-the-job learning station relating to the students’ educational or occupational goals. Each unit of credit requires 54 hours of employment during the semester. Work Experience Education is available to all students.  Students are accepted as a result of consultation with a designate faculty member in the discipline. Fees will be required. Field trips may be required. Recommended Prep: Students should contact the instructor and review the requirements for units of credit. Notes: The State of California Emergency Medical Services Authority may deny licensure to those with criminal records; Students may enroll in up to 14 units of work experience education per semester or term; There is no limit to the number of terms for which a student may enroll in work experience education.

In this course, students learn and apply foundational rhetorical theories and techniques of public speaking in a multicultural democratic society. Students discover, develop, and critically analyze ideas in public discourse through research, reasoning, organization, composition, delivery to a live audience and evaluation of various types of speeches, including informative and persuasive speeches. Develops critical thinking and writing skills in close textual analysis of issues and themes in fiction, poetry, and drama as well as in non-fictional literature and literary criticism. Reviews deductive and inductive reasoning, recognition and avoidance of logical fallacies, and relationships between language and meaning while emphasizing detailed critical analysis. Course Credit Limitations: Credit will not be awarded for both honors and regular versions of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of “C” or better or "P". Moorpark College Honors Program requires a letter grade. Field trips may be required. This course introduces the theoretical and practical issues related to conducting business via the Internet. Topics covered in this course include evolving e-business models, Web-based technologies, value chains, electronic marketing, payment systems, security, ethics, legal, international, and cross-cultural issues. Familiarity with navigating the Internet is assumed. Transfer credit: CSU.
