This introductory course examines the terminology, equipment, techniques, and concepts related to music technology. The course will survey the principles and practices of sound, MIDI, synthesis, notation, and audio recording utilizing hardware and software platforms. Field trips may be required. This course is an introduction to the science of life, cell biology, metabolism, diet, genetics, evolution and ecology and will include current issues and news on these topics. Credit will not be awarded for both the regular and honors versions of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of C or better or "P." Emphasizes expository writing and research, demonstrating principles of thesis and support, rhetorical organization, control of diction, clear sentence and paragraph construction, and command of the conventions of English usage. This course introduces the process of socialization focusing on the interrelationship of family, school, and community. The course will also examine the influence of multiple societal contexts and explore the role of collaboration between family, community, and schools in supporting children's development, birth through adolescence.
