In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. Credit will not be awarded for both the honors and regular versions of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of C or “P” or better. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: Placement as determined by the college’s multiple measures assessment process. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. This course provides instruction and hands-on training in the areas of hardware installation, software configuration, diagnostics and troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, basic networking, basic security, and wireless. Operating systems are also covered including Microsoft Windows, Android, Apple iOS, and macOS. Students will also receive instruction on safety and environmental considerations as it relates to computing environments. In addition, this course prepares students for the CompTIA A+ certification exam.
