Course Description
This course is specifically designed for Educational Assistance (EAC) students who have a diagnosis that hinders their ability to grasp and apply mathematical concepts. The course will cover basic math operations including whole numbers, order of operations, fractions, decimals, and word problems. This course will also include test taking, mnemonic and memory strategies for learning and recalling mathematical operations. Various learning strategies will be utilized to help students to break down the barriers to learning mathematics that have slowed their progress. Recommended Prep: ACT R016. Course Description
This course provides an introduction to the historical roots of race and racism, and how it has been, and continues to be, a powerful force that shapes American society. Students will closely examine race and ethnicity, and the impacts of racism upon Native Americans, Chicanas/os and Latinas/os, African Americans, and Asian Americans. This course includes an analysis of the economic, political, social, and cultural impact of racial attitudes, behaviors, practices, and public policy. The course will highlight the ways that race and ethnicity intersect with gender, sexuality, class, citizenship, and nation in order to better understand how systems of power and inequality are constructed, reinforced, and challenged. Informed by multiple disciplines, the course will provide a foundation for understanding the impact and role of race and racism in major U.S. institutions. Field trips may be required. Course Description
This course explores what financial accounting is, why it is important, and how it is used by investors and creditors to make decisions. The course covers the accounting information system and the recording and reporting of business transactions with a focus on the accounting cycle, the application of generally accepted accounting principles, and the classified financial statements. It includes issues relating to assets, liabilities, equity valuations, revenue and expense recognition, internal controls, and ethics.
