Course Description
Introduces the scientific study of the biological bases of behavior and its fundamental role in the neurosciences. Addresses physiological, hormonal, and neurochemical mechanisms, and brain-behavior relationships underlying the psychological phenomena of sensation, perception, regulatory processes, emotion, learning, memory, and psychological disorders. Notes historical scientific contributions and current research principles for studying brain-behavior relationships and mental processes. Discusses ethical standards for human and animal research in the context of both invasive and non-invasive experimental research. Course Credit Limitations: Credit will not be awarded for both the honors and regular version of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of "C" or better or "P". Moorpark College Honors Program requires a letter grade. Prerequisites: PSYC C1000 or PSYC C1000H (or PSY M01 or PSY M01H). Recommended Prep: ENGL C1000 or ENGL C1000H (or ENGL M01A or ENGL M01AH) and PSY M06.

Course Description
Introduces basic cartographic principles including map types, scales, projections, coordinate systems, as well as an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and software. Provides hands-on experience through the application of GIS technology to solve spatial problems and display geographic data. Introduces the application and relevance of GIS in a diverse set of academic disciplines and professional industries such as anthropology, archeology, geology, geography, urban planning, cartography, environmental science, emergency management, education, water resources, ethnic studies, criminal justice, law enforcement, military, security, political science, sociology, infectious disease control, engineering, and marketing analytics. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.
