Course Description
In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. Emphasizes expository writing and research, demonstrating principles of thesis and support, rhetorical organization, control of diction, clear sentence and paragraph construction, and command of the conventions of English usage. Develops analytical and interpretive reading skills. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: Placement as determined by the college's multiple measures assessment process. Course Description
This course is an introduction to statistical thinking and processes, including methods and concepts for discovery and decision-making using data. Topics include descriptive statistics; probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference; correlation and linear regression; analysis of variance, chi-squared, and t-tests; and application of technology for statistical analysis including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings. Students apply methods and processes to applications using data from a broad range of disciplines. Course Credit Limitations: MC, CSU, and UC - Credit will not be awarded for both the honors and regular versions of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of “C” or better or "P". Moorpark College Honors Program requires a letter grade. Course Description
Prepares students to render pre-hospital basic life support at the scene of an emergency, during transport of the sick and injured, or during inter-facility transfer. Introduces topics in the field of emergency care including anatomy, physiology, patient assessment, medical and traumatic emergencies and injuries. Corequisites: EMT M01L. Recommended Prep: NS M19. Transfer credit: CSU. Notes: Successful completion of this course and EMT M01L will prepare the student to take the National Registry of EMT (NREMT) Basic Exam (providing all other requirements are met); students are required to bring a current CPR card to the first day of class to remain enrolled in the class; due to clinical facility requirements, students must be 18 years old by the first day of class; evidence of current health insurance and clearance of health appraisal, background check, and drug screening is required prior to clinical rotations and for continued enrollment in the course.
