Course Description
Children's Literature will provide an inquiry into children's literature for grades K-6. Students analyze works in multiple genres, including but not limited to fiction and nonfiction, poetry, picture books, and traditional literature. Focus will be on critical reading of materials as well as analysis of literary elements and structural features. Students will examine societal and cultural values communicated through children's literature. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: ENGL C1000 or ENGL C1000H. Transfer credit: CSU.
