In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. Emphasizes expository writing and research, demonstrating principles of thesis and support, rhetorical organization, control of diction, clear sentence and paragraph construction, and command of the conventions of English usage. This course serves as an introduction to the theory and practice of audio production for broadcasting, internet, film, and music recording applications. Students will learn the fundamentals of sound design and aesthetics, microphone use, and digital recording equipment. Students gain hands on experience recording, editing, and mixing audio for various applications. Upon completion, students will have basic knowledge of applied audio concepts, production workflow, equipment functions, and audio editing software. Field trips may be required. Course Credit Limitations: Credit will not be awarded for both honors and regular versions of a course.
