Provides students the opportunity to develop basic animal training techniques through hands-on work with animals at the teaching zoo. Emphasizes behavioral observations, development of training plans, maintenance of training records, and shaping the behavior of one or more animals. Provides a range of supervised educational experiences, including presentations, tours and up close animal experiences with audiences. Focuses on opportunities for students to practice educational and conservation messaging with the public. Provides students an opportunity to develop and perform a scripted show. Focuses on observation and analysis of primate behavior at the Teaching Zoo. Includes the application and evaluation of operant conditioning and environmental enrichment techniques specific to nonhuman primates. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: ANCT M26. Formerly: ANSC M60BL; EATM M26L.
