Course Description
This course is intended for students with learning disabilities or other written language difficulties. Course will include instruction in basic sentence writing skills including subject/verb identification, writing and recognizing simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences, and the punctuation appropriate to each. Focus will be on utilizing the Writing Process to write strong paragraphs, with solid introduction, supporting sentences and a conclusion. Students will examine examples of various writing styles to determine what works, and what doesn't work when writing in each style. Commitment will be given to building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment that supports the growth and success of all students.

This course is specifically designed for Educational Assistance Center (EAC) students who have a diagnosis that hinders their ability to grasp and apply mathematical concepts. The course will cover ratio, proportion, percent, introduction to algebra, basic introduction to measurement and statistics and introduction to geometry. The class will also include test-taking, mnemonic, and memory strategies for learning and recalling basic mathematical operations. Various learning strategies will be utilized to help students to overcome barriers to learning mathematics that have previously slowed their progress. Recommended Prep: LS R016A and concurrent enrollment in ACT R016 for additional support while taking the course.
