VCCCD would like you to get to know the staff and faculty who contribute their time, talent & education to the success of our students. We will regularly highlight employees across all four campuses, sharing their professional expertise, their educational path, and a few fun facts about them.
Michael Haydon, Assistant Registrar Ventura College/Assistant Football Coach

Describe your position in 2-3 sentences:

I work in the Admissions & Records (A&R) office, which serves as the “gatekeeper” for student records. We work to ensure we are compliant with state and federal regulations and the privacy of student education records. We also work to verify all student records related to registration, residency, and graduation requirements.

I also serve as the Defensive Coordinator for the Ventura College football team.

How long have you worked for the District?

I have worked for the District since 2015 in a variety of roles. In Admissions & Records, I previously held the positions of Student Services Assistant and Technician. I was an adjunct faculty member in the Intercollegiate Athletics department and served as a mentor for Pirates Cove. I also worked with the Health, Kinesiology, and Intercollegiate Athletics departments, overseeing the Student Learning Outcomes review cycle and revisions.

Are you a VCCCD alum?

I am, unfortunately, not an alum. I graduated from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.

When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of work, you can most likely find me on a golf course. I love to golf, even though it is not always enjoyable. If I am not on the golf course, I am usually in the kitchen trying to create or recreate recipes.

What do you find rewarding about your job or career?

The most rewarding thing for me is aiding in student success. There is no greater joy to me than seeing students complete their goals and leave VC with all the tools to be successful long after.

Do you do any volunteer work? If so, what?

I volunteer at my church. I currently teach confirmation classes with middle school-aged students.

Two words to describe yourself:

Joyful and Family-Oriented.

Bonus Question: Where is your happy place?

My happy place is either on the football field or on the golf course.
