Join us for the John Galan Art Reception in the Admin Building Art Gallery!
Moorpark College Alumni, John Galan’s work follows in the surrealist tradition of one of the most well-known and recognizable Mexican artists, Frida Kahlo. Conceptually, he pulls from his own experience as a Mexican-American, challenging bi-cultural and generational stigmas.
In this comedy, Mrs. Savage has just inherited a boat load of money. Her greedy stepchildren have already spent every last coin of it in their heads. When Mrs. Savage's intent for the money doesn't line up with her stepchildren's, they throw her into a sanatorium hoping to "bring her to her senses." Instead of a punishment however, Mrs. Savage finds respite in the residents at The Cloisters, each one in their turn reminding Mrs. Savage that kindness and affection are still possibilities in a materialistic world and that mental health is health.
