The English Department offers a variety of courses in writing, literature, and grammar to help you be successful in college, the workplace, and in your personal endeavors.

From basic grammar to advanced studies in Shakespeare, you will find a class to stimulate your mind and improve your skills. Your professors strive to support and challenge you as writers, thinkers, and readers.

The English program offers a wide variety of courses in reading, writing and literature, leading to the degree of Associate in Arts for Transfer. Students can take the full range of literature survey courses required to transfer as an English major. There is also a variety of elective courses offered for in creative writing, literature, and cinema.
The study of English offers a basic understanding of reading and writing skills and an appreciation of literature. The more practical skills offered by the study of English—effective reading, writing and thinking —are applicable to all education, careers, and civil responsibilities
