Oxnard College President Cynthia Azari has announced a community outreach event at Oxnard College (4000 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard, CA, Room 2-AA 101) on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The purpose of the opportunity is to help former students of ITT Technical Institute (ITT) understand their options and receive guidance to help them continue their higher education. Parking will be available in lots G & H.

“More than 200 ITT students in the Oxnard area were displaced as a result of the school’s recent closure. In collaboration with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, students will engage in a thoughtful and organized process of advising and counseling on how to maximize educational opportunities in any of the three colleges of the Ventura County Community College District,” said District Chancellor Bernard Luskin.

“The meeting will include representatives from Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura Colleges and the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). Students are welcome to attend throughout the day to meet with college and BPPE staff who will connect them to direct resources in the colleges,” said Rick Post, Vice Chancellor of Educational Services.

In addition to the community event at Oxnard College, Moorpark College is hosting anopen housefor ITT students at Moorpark College (7075 Campus Road, Moorpark, CA) in Fountain Hall on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 6-7:30 p.m. Moorpark College offers similar associate degree and certificate programs as ITT, including, but not limited to, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Networking Systems Engineering, Computer Science and Criminal Justice. Ventura College is hosting two information sessions on its campus (4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura, CA) in the Student Services Transfer Center. ITT students will be able to meet with financial aid advisors and academic counselors on Friday, September 16, from 12-2 p.m. and Tuesday, September 20, 2016, from 4-5 p.m.

“We look forward to helping students and reassuring them that there are opportunities within the Ventura County Community College District for them to successfully complete their degrees and certificates,” said VCCCD Board of Trustees Chair Larry Kennedy.
