(VENTURA, CA) MARCH 14, 2016 -
The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) today announced the signing of an articulation agreement that allows VCCCD students to complete their undergraduate education in The Chicago School’s Undergraduate Studies Division, further realizing both institutions’ goal of providing access to a broad range of quality educational opportunities. Launched two years ago to offer TCSPP’s curriculum to a broader audience, The Chicago School’s B.A. Program has expanded to a four-year degree program, and many of these students will have the opportunity to continue their post-graduate education and training at the University by enrolling in one of its many masters and doctoral-level programs.

Comprised of three colleges, Moorpark College, Oxnard College and Ventura College, VCCCD serves 50,000 students annually system-wide and offers a full range of programs to help students successfully advance to the next phase of their lives. The new articulation agreement provides current and former VCCCD students with the opportunity to complete their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at one of the leading nonprofit universities in psychology and related behavioral health sciences.

VCCCD students will be granted admission to TCSPP’s Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Program upon meeting either of the following admissions criteria: The completion of specific coursework, with a minimum grade point average, and after a course-by-course evaluation to meet General Education requirements as outlined by TCSPP; or possess a conferred Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree with a minimum GPA as established by The Chicago School. Lastly, all courses taken or degrees received must be from a regionally accredited institution. VCCCD students meeting these requirements are eligible for a 10 percent decrease in the bachelor degree tuition rate.

"We are excited to partner with the Ventura County Community College District to offer this exciting opportunity to VCCCD students who are interested in pursuing a degree that will help improve mental health care in our communities," said Michele Nealon-Woods, Psy.D., president, The Chicago School. "Both of our institutions are focused on meeting the needs of students by providing a comprehensive education in this discipline--one that will help them be successful in today’s increasingly competitive world."

"Pathways provide a roadmap for students to achieve their goals by improving retention and increasing graduation rates," said Dr. Bernard Luskin, Chancellor, Ventura County Community College District.  "We are pleased to cooperate with colleges offering upper division courses and BA degrees in our facilities to assist students in achieving their goals," added Larry Kennedy, Chair, Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees.
