(MOORPARK, CA) Nov. 15, 2016 –
As part of the Moorpark College Golden Gala “50 Years of Academic Excellence", the Moorpark College Foundation is seeking nominations – a call to action for individuals to recommend stellar Moorpark College graduates as potential Hall of Fame alumni inductees. The celebration will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, 5-10pm, at the Air Force One Ronald Reagan Library (40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley, CA 93065).  The gala will honor the President’s Circle and Hall of Fame inductees, along with celebrating 50 years of service to students and the community.

“In recognizing notable alumni, we see the impact that Moorpark College has had as an institution that enables students to go on and influence their greater communities,” said Moorpark College President Luis Sanchez, JD, LLM. Selected Hall of Fame nominees will be inducted into the Moorpark College Hall of Fame at the 50th Anniversary Moorpark College Golden Gala. Hall of Fame alumni will be recognized in the following categories: acting, arts and literature, business, education, government, music, philanthropy, research and technology, and sports.  The criteria requires that nominees have had an impact or influence on local, state, national or international areas of focus.

Nominees inducted into the Class of 2017 Moorpark College Hall of Fame will hold the special privilege of being a part of the first Hall of Fame class. “With 50 years of service in the community, it is nearly impossible to quantify how many lives have been changed,” said VCCCD Board Vice Chair Bernardo Perez.  “Through recognizing milestones and Hall of Fame alumni, we can visibly see the monumental importance that the college holds in the community.

To submit nominations, please email Mary Rees, Moorpark College Dean of Student Learning, at mrees@vcccd.edu. Please include the nominees’ name, year graduated from Moorpark College and contribution to local, state, national or international issues.  Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
