VCCCD would like you to get to know the staff and faculty who contribute their time, talent & education to the success of our students. We will regularly highlight employees across all four campuses, sharing their professional expertise, their educational path, and a few fun facts about them.
Holly Correa, Program Director I, District Office

What does that entail?

I manage and report on District grants, facilitate contract education training and connect K-12 and adult education schools to our three wonderful colleges!

How long have you worked for the district?  Since 2016

Were you a student at one of the district’s colleges and if so which one?  What was your major and your degree?

I have not; however, I have my eye on some and hope to enroll in the near future. I have a bachelor’s degree in education and psychology form Cal State Long Beach, teaching credential from CLU and master’s in educational leadership form Point Loma Nazarene University.

Are you from the area and if not where are you from?

I was born and raised in beautiful Bakersfield, home of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. (But I don't listen to country music!)

Share something personal about yourself:

I enjoy practicing and teaching the Gyrotonic Method (If you’re unfamiliar with the Gyrotonic Method, I describe it as doing Pilates, going to the chiropractor and getting a massage all at once.)

What do you find rewarding about your job or career?

I have met a lot of great people and it's nice when the work I do helps other people better their lives.

Two words to describe yourself: Caring and Creative

Do you do any volunteer work? If so, what?

In response to COVID, my friend hosts an all-inclusive Zoom event every Friday for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have not missed a week for 14 months. It has transformed the lives of those seeking community connection and social interaction during the pandemic.
