This integrated effort marks a significant step forward in aligning our vision, goals, and strategies with an evidence-based understanding of how we can meet the educational and service needs of our community.

The Community Colleges of Ventura County are launching a new strategic planning initiative to align our vision and goals with the real needs of our students and communities. Our strategic planning process is built on equity, access, and collaboration—designed to empower students, strengthen partnerships, and prepare us for the future.

This moment reflects years of relationship-building across our colleges and district. Now, we’re moving forward together—with purpose, momentum, and a clear commitment to inclusive progress.

  • Visionary leaders from the region came together to explore the future of Ventura County and ensure our colleges are ready to meet the needs of 2035 and beyond.
  • Planning Commission

The CCVC 2035 Planning Commission is a districtwide working group made up of faculty, staff, administrators, and student representatives. Formed to guide the development of VCCCD’s new strategic plan, the Commission has met regularly to discuss priorities, review data, and shape the vision for our district’s future. Their work is grounded in collaboration, community input, and a shared commitment to equity and student success.

A sustainable approach to planning that builds relationshipsaligns the organization, and emphasizes preparedness for change.

    Listening Sessions—Engaging Our Community

Over the past few months, we hosted open forums at each of our three colleges to hear directly from the campus community about what matters most. These sessions centered student voices and invited faculty, staff, and administrators to share their perspectives on our districtwide future.

Feedback gathered from these forums is being used to inform the development of our strategic priorities. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped shape this important work.

Mission, Vision, and Values: Our Shared Foundation

Over the past several months, a dedicated group of colleagues has come together to thoughtfully update VCCCD’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Informed by input gathered from workshops, listening sessions, surveys, and community conversations, this work reflects the aspirations, priorities, and shared commitments of our district.

These guiding statements represent who we are, what we stand for, and the promises we make to the students and communities we serve.
