On March 12 we were informed by the Ventura county community college district that Moorpark College would be moving all of their classes online in order to flatten the curve of the coronavirus pandemic. For many lecture classes, including some of my own, this transition, though shocking, was a fairly easy adjustment. One class that I am the facilitator for this semester is the student one acts. These are one acts that are written, directed, and acted by students. The students use the entire semester to craft their play, direct their actors, and bring their characters to life for live performances in our 99 seat black box theater. On March 12, all of that changed. we would not be able to have rehearsals anymore. We would not be able to come together and perform in our blackbox theater at the end of the semester. This was not going to be an easy transition. However these theater students were able to think creatively and quickly. Their ability to collaborate and bring these pieces to life in a different way and under extraordinary pressures and circumstances is inspiring. I am so proud of these students. I hope you will be as well. Special thank you to the faculty and staff of Moorpark College and the Performing Arts Center for your continued support, to the Ventura County Community College District for keeping us safe and to these resilient and talented students/artists for being so inspring. Without further ado, here are the Spring 2020 VIRTUAL Student One Acts.
