About

I have been lucky enough to be teaching English Composition, Literature, and Critical Thinking courses at Moorpark College since 2016. I started out my college days as a student at Moorpark and enjoyed it so much that I knew I wanted to come back and teach here. I am now part of the Moorpark College Alumni Association (MCAA) committee and volunteer my time for events/programs on campus in-between my class schedule.

It was near the end of my M.A. program at CSUN that I found my Area of Focus: Comic and Graphic Novel Studies. Comics and graphic novels offer unique opportunities for students in English. Comics are a combination of narrative structure and visual aspects, helping expand a reader's rhetorical understanding of a topic. I use a variety of comic styles, ranging from the big names of Marvel and DC to the smaller Indie and web comics publications, and genres, including the classic superhero genre and (auto)biography genre.

In my down time I like to catch up on my reading (comics and prose alike), listen to music while baking, and watch TV. When I get to have lunch at home I like to re-watch shows that I have already seen, such as FireflyBonesGilmore Girls, and The Big Bang Theory. I have a four-pound Teacup Yorkie named Missy that loves to climb on the back of my furniture, so I nicknamed her Goat.
