Course Description
Introduces the concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics and appropriate use of statistical techniques to analyze and interpret applications based on data from the social and behavioral sciences and related fields including psychology, sociology, education, criminal justice, health science, economics, business, anthropology, and political science. Includes probability theory, hypothesis testing, and predictive techniques. Covers descriptive statistics, probability and sampling distributions, statistical inference, correlation and linear regression, z-test, one and two sample t-tests, analysis of variance, and chi-square. Includes use of statistical software for analysis of data and interpretation of results. Focuses on applications for students majoring in psychology, sociology, and other social and behavioral sciences. Prerequisites: Intermediate Algebra or placement as determined by the college's multiple measures assessment process. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.
