Course Description
This course involves the theory and detailed demonstration of the first aid care of the injured. The course will also introduce key issues for leading a healthy lifestyle, including heart disease risk factor identification, health and safety considerations, legal issues, and injury prevention. The student will learn to assess an individual’s condition and demonstrate proper treatment. Upon successful completion of requirements, students would be eligible for first aid, CPR and AED for adult, child, and infant certification. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. Course Description
This course provides individualized study of the appropriate techniques and repertoire for keyboard instruments through private instruction. It emphasizes the progressive development of skills needed for solo performance. The general course content includes aspects of rhythm, articulation, and expressive elements as they relate to the instrument. Corequisites: MUS R101, or MUS R120A and MUS R125A, or MUS R120B and MUS R125B, or MUS R120C and MUS R125C, and MUS R106, or MUS R126, or MUS R185. Transfer credit: CSU. Notes: To be eligible for Applied music, students must be concurrently enrolled in the following: a Music Theory course (or Music Fundamentals) and the accompanying lab course, AND an Ensemble course such as Choir, Chamber Music, or Mariachi.

Course Description
This course provides study of literature combined with instruction in critical thinking and composition. The course emphasizes understanding and writing about literature using principles of logical analysis, criticism, advocacy of ideas, and inductive and deductive reasoning. Students will examine assumptions upon which conclusions are based and recognize common logical errors of language and thought. Instruction is offered in advanced elements of style and organization. Application of critical thinking skills and logical methodology to the various literary genres will achieve a disciplined understanding of the material. Credit will not be awarded for both the honors and regular versions of a course. Credit will be awarded only for the first course completed with a grade of C or “P” or better. This course focuses on the aesthetics and fundamentals of scripting, producing and directing on location, postproduction, and exhibition/distribution.
