Ventura College and the Santa Paula Center will be OPEN next Monday through Thursday, Dec. 18 through Dec. 21. Your patience and flexibility during the crisis was greatly appreciated.

Thursday, December 14:
Ventura College and Santa Paula Center:   Ventura College is pleased to announce we are OPEN today from noon to 5:00 p.m. for limited services due to the improvement in air quality and the quick response of available employees. At this time, the following limited services are open at the Ventura College campus: Bookstore, CalWORKs, Counseling, Educational Assistance Center (EAC), Financial Aid, Student Connect Center and the Veteran Center. Tuesday, December 12:
Ventura College and Santa Paula Center: 
Due to unhealthy air quality, both campuses are closed today and tonight.  All remaining student final exams for the week are cancelled.  Faculty may post grades on student progress to-date or may determine other considerations for grading.  Students are encouraged to discuss their individual situation with their instructors.  The decision to open the campus for business the remainder of the week will be made on a daily basis dependent on the air quality.

  • Ventura College and the Ventura College Santa Paula:  OPEN. The Ventura College Nurse Pinning scheduled on Monday, December 11 has been postponed.

Donation and Giving Opportunities

Victim Relief Collection Drive:  many students, faculty, staff, administrators, and neighbors of Ventura College lost their homes in the devastating Thomas Fire.  Ventura College students need essentials so that they can stay in school, and employees who lost everything need assistance so that they can continue to teach and support our students. 

The Ventura College Pirates Treasure Chest will be open in Guthrie Hall on Tuesday, December 12 and Wednesday, December 13 from 8:00 am - 7:00 pm to serve the campus community affected by the Thomas Fire. Help a Pirate - donations needed.

2-1-1 Ventura County, a program of Interface Children & Family Services, is supplying emergency information for those affected by the Thomas Fire. Oxnard College and Moorpark College are open. Oxnard College has opened its campus to all VC students.  Their library, writing lab and tutoring services in the Library and Learning Resource Building (LLRC) will be made available on Friday from 8am- 5pm and Saturday from 9am- 5pm. Due to the generosity of individuals, companies and foundations, all disaster assistance is free of charge.Depending on each individual or family’s unique needs, we provide short-term immediate disaster assistance such as: food, clothing, shelter, prescription refills, eye-glasses, counseling, referrals to other organizations that help with long-term needs.

  • The Salvation Army Ventura: at 650 South Petit Avenue in Ventura, California. The Salvation Army is accepting food and water at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.  You can donate cash by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or visiting the website.

  • The Humane Society of Ventura County is in need of donations of:  Alfalfa hay; Timothy hay; Water troughs; Volunteers to help clean kennels, litter boxes and cages and help feeding the animals.

  • Thomas Fire Fund: The United Way of Ventura County, American Red Cross of Ventura County, and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services have teamed up to create the Thomas Fire Fund. Text UWVC to 41444 to make a cash donation, call 805-485-6288, or go online to United Way of Ventura County's website. Checks with "Thomas Fire Fund" in the memo line can be mailed to 702 County Square Drive, Suite 100 Ventura, CA 93003.

  • County of Ventura Property Tax Relief.  The offices of the County of Ventura Treasurer-Tax Collector, Assessor and Auditor-Controller are working on a plan to streamline the application process for property tax relief due to damage caused by the Thomas Fire.  To file a calamity claim for property damaged in the Thomas Fire, please complete the Application for Reassessment and return to the Assessor of Ventura County.
