COVID-19 Workplace Accommodation Information

The Ventura County Community College District is committed to growing a diverse workforce. In doing so, we seek to provide reasonable accommodations, also called workplace accommodations, for any faculty, staff, administrator, or student employee with disability-related limitations or restrictions.

The Americans with Disabilities Act's (ADA) overall purpose is to make American Society more accessible to people with disabilities. The ADA requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities (which has a very broad definition) and prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in all aspects of employment.

Employees who are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 because of an underlying medical condition/disability may request reasonable accommodations.

The Human Resources team can provide guidance and assistance to identify reasonable accommodations that could reduce COVID-19 related risks. Depending on the circumstances, some examples of workplace accommodations may include: providing additional personal protective equipment (PPE); enhancing physical distancing or modifying the work location; modifying work schedules; modifying non-essential job functions; temporary remote work; or a leave of absence.
