In an increasingly competitive and demanding environment, businesses as well as government agencies need the resources and the support system to build and/or improve the proficiency and professionalism of their workforce. The business community also needs access to essential tools and critical information that will enable them to enter and compete in the global marketplace. Through innovative, needs specific and high quality instruction and consulting, the Ventura County Community College District Division of Economic will continue to meet these workforce needs and challenges of local and regional employers.

  • Technical assistance to employers seeking to assess the needs of their workforce as compared to their desired level of performance (e.g. gap analysis).
  • Development of customized curriculum packages to address specific training needs of employers.
  • Development of customized support services packages to address specific success needs of employers and/or incumbent workers.
  • Organization and delivery of lab and/or customized classroom training to incumbent workers.

Customized Training 

The Ventura County Community College District Division of Economic Development provides technical assistance and customized training support to employers who seek to maintain and increase the productivity of their workforce. These services are provided on behalf of the three colleges in the District serving employers throughout Ventura County.

We provide a variety of training options that include instruction in English-as-a-Second Language, Customer Service, Supervision and Management, Leadership, Computer Skills and much more. Dozens of training topics and services are available for customization with your vision, goals and branding in mind. Training is conducted at our centrally located training facility, or at the job site.

International Trade 

Successful business owners and/or managers who have been in business at least three years and want to expand into international markets can learn the fundamentals of international trade through the Global Entrepreneur Training in Trade Program (G.E.T. Trade) offered by the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County (EDC-VC). The EDC-VC is a collaborative partner of the college district. This program includes classroom instruction and one-on-one specialized consulting to gain knowledge in documentation, pricing, costing, research skills, payment methods and import/export compliance.

Small Business Development

In addition to the customized training for business and industry provided by the District’s Division of Economic Development, small business owners also have access to one-on-one consulting services through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County (EDC-VC), a collaborative partner of the college district. The SBDC is part of a nationwide program that assists small business owners in gaining access to business consulting, education and resources.
