About the Event
This District-wide event will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast, followed by Chancellor Meznek’s "State of the District" address and Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in the Main Theater. Speakers include Scott Lay from the Community College League of California, who will discuss challenges and opportunities facing California’s community college system, and Pamela Cox-Otto of Interact Communications, who, with her great sense of humor, will guide us through dealing with a multi-generational student body and workforce. The afternoon will consist of a working lunch and workshops regarding diversity and conflict management. The event will conclude at approximately 3:15 p.m.
This flex day is mandatory for full-time faculty. Part-time faculty are invited and encouraged to attend. Classified employees are also required to attend, with the exception of those employees who need to remain on campus or at the District Administrative Center to maintain day-to-day operations. Classified employees involved in day-to-day operations at the campuses and District Administrative Center should work with their supervisors to determine their attendance.
Transportation and Parking
Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Upon completing the appropriate mileage forms, you can be reimbursed for mileage if you travel a distance further than your normal commute to work.

To receive a boxed lunch during the event, please provide your meal selection (turkey sandwich, roast beef sandwich, or vegetarian sandwich) no later than Friday, August 8, by clicking on the following link:
You may also email lmglaze@vcccd.edu, call Lynn-Marie Glaze at 805.652.5508, or access your VCCCD email account and respond to the “District In-Service Day” email sent to you on July 30. Lunches will also include chips, pasta salad, and cookies. A variety of beverages will be available throughout the day, and brownies will be provided during the afternoon break.
