For: Web Enhancing Instructors (On Campus Instructors who use Canvas)

On Friday April 21, 2017, the instructional technologists will be providing Canvas workshops for those who teach on campus courses.  Each of these ninety minute sessions are designed to help on campus instructors implement the most common practices.  We call this web enhancing your on campus course.  Please join us for any or all of these sessions on Friday.

All sessions are Ninety Minutes in length.

Sessions:

9:00 AM: Web Enhancing Your On Campus Course with Canvas:  This workshop provides all attendees with a practice shell as well as the basics for using Canvas in your classroom and for homework assignments. Topics covered will be Communicating with your Students, Uploading Content, Using the Calendar, Creating Pages, Making Links, YouTube Connections, Configuring Turn It In (TII), Attendance, and Arranging your Navigation Bar.

11:00 AM: Converting your course from D2L To Canvas: This workshop teaches faculty how to get their D2L Content out of D2L and saved in a format that Canvas will interpret/import.  All attendees will be given a practice shell in which they can import content  from D2L.  Additional Practice shells can be requested after the training. Attendees will also have time to import at least one course into Canvas.  Warning messages will be interpreted and course design questions will also be answered during this time.  Handouts are available to those who cannot make this session.

1:00 PM: Using the Gradebook, Creating Assignments, and Applying Rubrics:  These are our three most common questions when using the gradebook in Canvas.  Come join us for a festive approach to using the gradebook and explore the reasons of why your students need feedback.

3:00 PM:  Open House regarding the Future of eLearning at Ventura College for On Campus Instructors:  This is open time for instructors to ask more broad questions about technology in the classroom and/or to work upon a Canvas course.  Please bring your ideas and questions.
