Citizens Oversight Committee Vacancy
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above-named California Community College District, acting by and through its Board of Trustees, will receive applications for one vacancy on its Bond Measure S Citizens Oversight Committee. The position available is as follows:
POSITION D – Designated as a two-year position:
A currently-enrolled District student who is involved in student government (may serve up to 6 months after graduation)
Under Section 15278(b) of the Education Code, the responsibility of this committee is to:
- Ensure that bond revenues are expended only for proper purposes.
- Ensure that no bond revenues are used for salaries of instructors or administrators or for any other college operating expenses.
Under Section 15278(c) of the Education Code, the Citizens Oversight Committee may:
- Receive and review copies of the required annual, independent performance audit.
- Receive and review copies of the required annual, independent financial audit.
- Inspect District facilities to ensure that bond revenues are being expended properly.
- Receive and review copies of the District’s deferred maintenance proposals or plans.
- Review the District’s efforts to maximize bond revenues by implementing cost-saving measures.
The Citizens Oversight Committee generally meets quarterly, and all meetings are open to the public. These are volunteer, unpaid positions, and the people appointed will serve two-year terms. The Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Community College District will make the final appointments to this committee. Employees, vendors, contractors, consultants or officials of the District may not be appointed to the Citizens Oversight Committee.
