| Moorpark College proudly announces that the accreditation of its Radiologic Technology Program has been renewed for a period of eight years. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. The next accreditation site visit is set for 2013.
The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the US Department of Education for the accreditation of programs in radiography. Moorpark College offers a two-year degree program in radiologic technology. Upon program completion, students must pass the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists licensing exam. Typically the pass rate is nearly 100 percent, according to Lupe Aldana, program director.
Moorpark College charges an enrollment fee of $26 per unit for California residents for this program. The cost for the two-year program including books, uniforms, registration, malpractice insurance, immunizations, and other graduation related fees is under $4,000.
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists 2007 survey shows radiologists in the state of California earn a media annual salary of $72,790.
A Registered Radiologic Technologist may work in hospitals, trauma centers, outpatient clinics, orthopedic/sports medicine clinics and mobile radiography services. With additional education there are many choices for the radiographer seeking diversity and promotion in areas such as health care administration, radiology department administrator or supervisor, sales of imaging equipment, or in different modalities such as mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, angiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and ultrasound.
