MOORPARK COLLEGE THEATRE ARTS PRESENTS CLASSIC COMEDY Moorpark - Moorpark College Theatre Arts Department is proud to announce its Fall 2009 main stage production of Thornton Wilder’s “The Skin of Our Teeth.” This classic American drama will run from October 22nd through November 1st including two 2:00pm Sunday matinees in the Moorpark College Performing Arts Center.
“The Skin of Our Teeth” is one of Thornton Wilder’s most successful and endearing works. It spans time and space as the Antrobus family encounter the Ice Age, the Great Flood and the Napoleonic Wars. Through each momentous trial the family comes full circle and embraces the struggles we all endure while it celebrates the human spirit and its capacity to overcome diversity. Complete with Newsreels, natural disasters and a crazy fortune teller, this main stage production will bring full-scale production elements to the Moorpark College stage utilizing the talents of students in all areas of production.
Directed by Moorpark College Theatre Arts Instructor, Eileen Kennedy, the cast includes: Sean Murphy of Camarillo, Korinne Wilkening and Patrick Beckstead of Moorpark, Robert Pond of Newbury Park, Stephanie Gordeau of Oak Park, Taylor Bradley of Palmdale, Josef Knauber of Reseda, Amber Schumann, Chris Guerrero, Danielle Kaufman, Erin Esgate, Melissa Pinza, Philip Sanders, and Ryan Lefton of Simi Valley, Alyssa Carillo, Charles Match, Christopher Carroll, Ed Connelly, Shannon Hewitt and Taryn Allen of Thousand Oaks and Kaleigh Slezinger, R. Shane Bingham of Woodland Hills. “We are very fortunate to have Eileen directing for us at Moorpark,” stated John Loprieno, Assistant Chair of the Theatre Arts department. “To have an accomplished industry professional come out and work with our students to this degree is truly an exceptional opportunity.”
“I am very excited to be directing at Moorpark College.” said Kennedy, “The school has an impressive history of theatrical productions and I have assembled a talented cast of wonderful actors who will bring this classic to life. Our recent wars, economic upheaval, wildfires and floods provide quite a ripe environment for this unique American comedy. My favorite element is Wilder’s breaking of the fourth wall, through which he invites the audience into the Antrobus family’s effort to save civilization.”
“The Skin of Our Teeth” runs on the main stage in the Moorpark College Performing Arts Center October 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 31 @ 8:00pm and October 25 and November 1 @ 2:00pm.
